Oxygen is medicine your body makes free use of,when it can reach where it's needed.
Every time a cell repairs itself, fights off an infection, knits a wound, or rebuilds tissue after a hard workout, it spends energy. And the fuel for that energy is oxygen. We rarely think about it because, most of the time, breathing is enough. But "enough to stay alive" and "enough to heal at full speed" are two very different thresholds, and the gap between them is where a lot of slow, stubborn recovery quietly lives.
When tissue is injured, inflamed, or swollen, blood flow to that area is often compromised, exactly when it needs oxygen most. Circulation slows, capillaries get squeezed, and the cells doing the repair work end up rationing. The result is the familiar story: an injury that lingers, fatigue that won't lift, a recovery that stalls a step short of "back to normal."
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy,HBOT,is a remarkably simple idea built on a well-understood piece of physics. Put your body in a comfortable pressurized chamber and have you breathe oxygen-enriched air, and you dramatically increase the amount of oxygen that dissolves directly into your blood plasma. Not just the oxygen carried by red blood cells, which are usually close to full already, but free oxygen, dissolved in the fluid of your blood, able to seep into places red blood cells struggle to reach.
It isn't about forcing your body to do something unnatural. It's about removing the one bottleneck, oxygen supply, that's holding natural healing back.
That last point is the heart of it, and it fits how we think about care at Inspire. We've never believed in the pill-for-every-ill approach. We believe in giving the body what it needs and letting it do what it already knows how to do. HBOT is one of the clearest examples of that philosophy we've ever offered: no drugs, nothing invasive, just more of the most natural resource there is, delivered where it counts.
Under hyperbaric pressure, the amount of oxygen dissolved in your blood plasma can rise to several times its normal level, independent of your red blood cells, which are typically already near capacity at sea level.
Henry's Law: the amount of a gas dissolved in a liquid rises with the pressure of that gas above it. HBOT puts that law to work.

at sea level
at 1.0 ATA
each dot = oxygen dissolved in your blood plasma
At 1.0 atmospheres, your blood is carrying roughly the normal amount of dissolved oxygen. That extra oxygen is what travels into swollen, inflamed, or oxygen-starved tissue to support repair.
What's actually happening inside your body during a session.
None of this requires you to do anything but relax. But if you're the kind of person who wants to understand the "why" before you commit your time, here's the chain of events, step by step.
Pressure increases, gently
The chamber pressurizes to above normal atmospheric pressure. You feel it mainly in your ears, much like a plane's descent, and it settles within minutes.
Oxygen dissolves into your plasma
Because of that pressure, far more oxygen dissolves directly into the liquid part of your blood, not just onto red blood cells, but into the plasma itself.
Oxygen reaches the hard-to-reach
Dissolved oxygen can diffuse into areas with poor circulation, swollen joints, injured tissue, inflamed regions, where red blood cells have trouble squeezing through.
Repair processes get their fuel
With oxygen no longer the limiting factor, the body's normal repair machinery, building new tissue, calming inflammation, supporting cellular energy, can work closer to full capacity.
You return to your day
The chamber depressurizes slowly, you step out, and you carry on. No recovery period, no grogginess, most people feel calm and clear.
It's worth being honest about one thing here: HBOT is not magic, and we will never sell it as such. It doesn't replace medical care, and it isn't a cure-all. What it is,reliably, and backed by decades of clinical use,is a way to support your body's own healing by addressing a resource it's often quietly short on. The rest is your body's job, and your body is very good at it.
What people in Kamloops actually come to us for.
HBOT is used around the world to support a surprisingly wide range of recovery and wellness goals. Below are the reasons we hear most often. Tap any of them to read a little deeper into the "why."
Injury & post-surgery recovery
Support healing after sprains, strains, surgery, and stubborn soft-tissue injuries that won't fully resolve.
Energy & mental clarity
For the fog and fatigue that no nap seems to fix and no test fully explains.
Athletic recovery & performance
Bounce back between hard training days so you can train more consistently.
Inflammation & chronic pain
A natural complement to chiropractic care, helping calm the inflammation behind persistent pain.
Lingering, long-haul fatigue
A gentle, restorative option for when you simply haven't felt fully recovered in a long while.
Healthy aging & vitality
Make recovery, sleep, and resilience a deliberate part of your wellness routine.
Why does HBOT help with inflammation specifically? +
Inflammation is a normal, necessary first stage of healing, but when it gets stuck "on," it does more harm than good, and the swelling itself chokes off blood flow to the very tissue trying to recover. By flooding the area with dissolved oxygen that doesn't depend on that compromised circulation, HBOT helps the tissue move out of the stuck inflammatory phase and into genuine repair. Many people describe it as the difference between a fire that keeps smoldering and one that finally goes out.
How is this different from just exercising or breathing deeply? +
Deep breathing and exercise are wonderful for circulation, but they can't change the basic physics: at normal atmospheric pressure, your red blood cells are already nearly saturated, so breathing harder adds very little extra oxygen to your blood. The only way to meaningfully increase the oxygen dissolved in your plasma is to increase the pressure, which is precisely what a hyperbaric chamber does. It's a different mechanism entirely, not just "more of the same."
Is it a substitute for chiropractic care or medical treatment? +
No,and we'd be wary of anyone who told you it was. HBOT works best as a complement. Where chiropractic care helps your nervous system and structure function the way they're meant to, HBOT supports the tissue-level healing underneath. Together they address different layers of the same goal: a body that recovers and functions well, naturally. For any specific medical condition, we'll always encourage you to keep your physician in the loop.
What decades of use have shown.
Hyperbaric oxygen has been studied and used clinically for generations. A few numbers worth knowing:

Real stories from real recovery.
Education matters, but sometimes it helps to hear what it actually felt like for someone like you.
“After my knee surgery I hit a wall, healing just stopped a step short of normal. A few weeks of sessions and I finally felt my body turn the corner. I'm back on the trails I thought I'd lost.”
“I'd lived in a fog for over a year and chalked it up to getting older. About halfway through it started lifting, and I genuinely hadn't realized how cloudy I'd been until it cleared. The Conroys explained everything so I understood what was happening.”
“It's the most relaxing hour of my week, and my recovery between training days is on another level. What I appreciate most is that nobody overpromised. They told me exactly what to expect, and that's exactly what happened.”

What a session actually looks like, start to finish.
If you've never done this before, the unknown can feel bigger than the reality. Here's the honest walk-through, so nothing about your first visit is a surprise.
Before you arrive, our team reviews your health history with you. This isn't a formality,HBOT isn't right for everyone, and there are a few conditions involving the lungs and ears where we'd want to be careful. If it's not a good fit for you, we'll tell you plainly. That honesty is the whole point.
When you settle in, you'll get comfortable in the chamber. As it gently pressurizes, you'll feel a fullness in your ears, the same sensation as a plane coming in to land,a yawn or a swallow clears it. From there, there is genuinely nothing for you to do. Read a book. Listen to a podcast. Close your eyes and rest. Most people look forward to it as the calmest hour of their week.
When you're done, the chamber slowly returns to normal pressure, you step out, and you go on with your day. No downtime, no recovery, no grogginess. Many people describe feeling calm and clear-headed afterward.
How many sessions? That depends entirely on what you're working toward. Some people come for a focused stretch around a specific injury or event; others fold it into their routine as ongoing wellness support. We'll recommend a simple, honest plan based on your goals, never a package designed to over-commit you.
Care that treats you like a person, not a chart.
Dr. Robert & Dr. Lisa Conroy
Inspire Chiropractic & Wellness Studio was built around a simple conviction: that real health comes from supporting the body's own ability to heal,drug-free, non-invasive, and naturally. It's why our space feels cozy and casual rather than cold and clinical, and it's why we added Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy in the first place.
When you come in, you're not a number moving through a system. Dr. Robert and Dr. Lisa take the time to understand what you're working toward, explain the "why" behind everything, and give you the straight answer about whether HBOT is the right tool for you. If it is, wonderful. If it isn't, we'll point you in a better direction.
"Live Abundantly" isn't a slogan to us,it's the entire reason we do this work.
